Issues
Symptom: Zeus could not push filament through. Cleaning the nozzle multiple times did not help.
Root cause: Extruder gears were worn down and could not grip the filament properly.
Fix: Replaced the entire extruder gear assembly (faster than replacing individual gears).
Date resolved: approx. 2025-05-23 (same service event as hardened steel nozzle upgrade).
Symptom: Hades could not retract filament from the extruder. Filament was completely jammed — the retract command did nothing.
Root cause: Filament had seized inside the extruder (likely heat creep or a cold pull failure that hardened in place).
Fix: Had to disassemble the extruder to physically pull the filament out with pliers.
Lesson: If retraction fails completely and the normal unclog procedure doesn't work, disassemble and use pliers — do not force the motor as it risks stripping gears.
